For therapists

A partner for the work between your sessions

You lead treatment. I help your clients follow through on it: planning and practicing exposures, building motivation, and keeping avoidance in check during the week. Coaching is designed to complement your treatment, not replace it.

Role & scope

Clear lines, on purpose

Coaching works best when everyone knows exactly where it fits. Here's where I operate, and where I don't.

My role

What I do

  • Plan specific, doable exposures with the client, within your treatment plan
  • Practice exposures in real time (virtual, or limited local in-person)
  • Keep clients accountable and moving between sessions
  • Troubleshoot avoidance and build motivation in the moment
  • Support out-of-session exposure homework with weekday messaging

Scope of practice

What I don't do

  • I don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions
  • I don't provide therapy or clinical assessment
  • I don't manage medication
  • I don't offer crisis or emergency care
  • I don't set the treatment plan; I follow yours

Support, not replacement

How coaching supports therapy

Therapy is typically one hour a week. Exposures happen in the other 167. Clients often know what to do and still struggle to do it alone. Coaching adds in-the-moment support, accountability, and repetition where change actually happens.

Why it improves follow-through

Between sessions

  • More completed exposures each week
  • Less between-session drift and avoidance
  • Real-time support right when it's hard
  • Skills practiced until they generalize

Collaboration

With consent

  • I work within the plan and pacing you set
  • I follow your lead on exposure targets and any areas to avoid
  • Client always gives written consent before I coordinate with you
  • You stay the clinical lead throughout

Communication

Your preferred cadence

  • A brief weekly or biweekly email summary
  • A quick note when something notable comes up
  • Whatever rhythm and format works best for you
  • Concise, relevant, and never more than you need

Referrals

Have a client who needs more between sessions?

If you have a client who'd benefit from added structure and accountability between sessions, I'd welcome a conversation. I'll always be honest about fit, and I'll tell you if I don't think I'm the right support.
